ChattioAmigo Privacy Policy
- Your voice is never stored: audio is processed live and then it's gone.
- We never sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising.
- Our AI providers do not train their models on your conversations.
- You are talking to an artificial intelligence, not a person.
- You can delete your account and all your data from the app, instantly.
1. Who we are
ChattioAmigo is an app for learning Spanish through voice conversations with an AI-powered friend. The data controller is PSI Practical Software Innovations (Finland). For any privacy question, write to privacy.chattioamigo@virtuaalikuvaus.com.
2. What data we collect
- Account: your email (or your Apple identifier if you use Sign in with Apple) and your password (encrypted; we never see it).
- Learning profile: native language, interface language, city and country (if you provide them), interests, level and daily goal.
- Your conversations: we store the text transcript of your chats with your AI friend. From them we extract "memories" (things you tell it: plans, likes, events) so your friend remembers you, and practice cards based on your mistakes.
- Your practice: review answers, per-topic progress, daily streak and achievements.
- App usage: usage events (e.g. "chat completed") tied to an internal identifier, and technical crash reports. They never include the content of your conversations.
- Purchases: your subscription status (managed by Apple; we never see your card).
- Notifications: a technical device token if you enable notifications.
3. What we do NOT collect
- Your voice is not stored. Audio streams in real time to our AI provider to power the conversation or transcribe it, and is not saved on any server of ours.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or GPS location.
- We use no advertising and no ad trackers of any kind.
4. Why we use your data and on what legal basis
- To provide the service (basis: performance of contract) — powering the conversation, your friend's memory, your progress and reviews.
- To improve the app and fix bugs (basis: legitimate interest) — aggregate usage statistics and technical crash reports.
- To improve conversation quality (basis: legitimate interest) — our team may internally review conversation transcripts (never audio) to improve the quality of the chats and fix mistakes made by the AI friend.
- To notify you (basis: your consent, if you enable notifications) — practice reminders.
5. You are talking to an AI
Your ChattioAmigo friend — and any character in the missions — is an artificial intelligence system, not a person. Its responses are generated automatically and may contain errors. This disclosure complies with the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, art. 50).
6. Who processes your data on our behalf
We use specialised providers ("processors") under data-protection agreements. None of them use your data for their own purposes or to train their AI models:

When data leaves the European Economic Area, the transfer is protected by EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
7. How long we keep your data
- Conversation transcripts: up to 12 months, then deleted. Derived memories and cards are kept while your account exists.
- Account, profile and progress data: while your account exists.
- When you delete your account: all of the above is erased immediately and irreversibly. Only billing records the law requires may be retained (managed by Apple/RevenueCat).
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can access your data, correct it, erase it, take it with you (portability), and restrict or object to processing. You can exercise these rights in the app (Settings) or by writing to us. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Finland, the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
9. Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible and includes conversations, memories, cards, progress and streak. Deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription — cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
10. Children
ChattioAmigo is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
